Is Identity Verification by Huawei Secure?

by Edwin

Huawei is a modern age Chinese multinational tech industry. They specialise in the sales of consumer electronics such as mobile phones. However, they have also made a name for themselves by way of the telecommunication services that they provide. Although it has been in existence since 1987, they just recently branched out (so to speak). They initially focused on phone switches manufacture. But now, in addition to telecommunications, they also offer consulting and other operational services.

Huawei currently sits as the number one telecommunications equipment manufacturers in the world. A position they took over from Ericsson in the year 2012. Huawei as a company has divided its products and services into three major groups. The first group, the carrier network business group. This particular group is responsible for all sort of network connections (wireless, fixed and others) used by communications carriers. They are also responsible for global services and energy solutions in networking employed by communications carriers.

The next group is the consumer business group. This group is responsible for mobile phones, tablets and other devices which are part of the internet of things (IoT). Generally, this group focuses on “1+8+N”. Where “8” includes not only tablets but also PCs, wearables, smart speakers, VR devices, smart audio and many more. The “1” and “N” cover mobile phones and other IoT devices respectively.

Huawei Account Services and Identity Verification
Step One- Own a Huawei Account
These particular set of services are extremely attractive to app developers and software engineers. Huawei has made these services open for use to all their users. To qualify, all you need to do is to first own a Huawei account and register yourself as a developer.

Step Two- Create a Standard App
After the registration, you go forward to create a sustainable and standard app. At this point, the new identity verification comes into play. You are then required to generate a signing certificate fingerprint and subsequently configure said signing certificate fingerprint.

Step Three- Activate Essential Services
Then you can move forward to enable or activate the essential services. All these can be done via the AppGallery Connect.

Then you could move forward to the integration of the HMS Core SDK. Then configuration of the obfuscation scripts would naturally follow next. If you can successfully get here, cheer up. Because you are almost done.

Step Four- Submit Applications
The next step is to send in your application for SDK Permissions. However, this step could be viewed as being optional. So you could decide to skip it and jump straight to the next step.

The next step is to develop your app and put it all the additional features you want. Then it would be logical to perform a pre-release check. This is to ensure that all is in order before the release.

The very last step is to release the app.

Conclusion
These steps are vital to any developer out there and cannot be skipped. Huawei has developed a platform to make it all easier. The identity verification has been cut down from passwords, usernames and other complicated steps to a simple fingerprint verification step.
